Pride in Surrey is delighted to announce that our friends at Waverley Borough Council are the
sponsors of our Rainbow Community Stage for our 2021 event on the 25th September in
Godalming.
Thanks to the sponsorship offered by Waverley Borough Council, supported by Godalming Town
Council, we are able to ensure that there is a special area at our event to showcase local talent
and bring new and exciting acts to our community. In addition to the Main sponsorship from Surrey County Council, this years event is guaranteed to be a day out to remember.
In addition to sponsoring our community stage, the team from Waverley Borough Council will also
be joining our parade through Godalming and will have an outreach stall in our main field, to
engage with our community and offer support.
Charlie Watts, Pride in Surrey CEO said "we are over the moon to be working in partnership with
Waverley Borough Council to bring our community stage to life. It's so important to us to
showcase local talent, to celebrate the community and those who support us and we can't think
of a better way of doing this than to ensure we have a platform to showcase homegrown talent.
To have sponsorship from Waverley Borough Council and support from Godalming Town Council
is so important to ensuring we are able to provide this area."
Councillor Paul Follows, Leader of Waverley Borough Council, commented: “Here in Godalming
and, indeed, Waverley as a whole, we embrace inclusivity and are happy to be sponsoring the
Community Stage at Pride in Godalming. We look forward to welcoming residents and visitors
alike on this special occasion which celebrates diversity and taking pride in our community. We
hope that many Waverley residents will come along and enjoy the day.”
Councillor Penny Marriott, Waverley Borough Council Portfolio Holder for Equality, Diversity and
Inclusion, said: “We are proud to welcome Pride in Surrey to Godalming and hope that Waverley
residents and visitors will enjoy all that it has to offer and also pop along and visit our stall at the
event too. As a council that promotes a supporting and inclusive culture, it is wonderful to be able
to show our appreciation and acknowledgement of all that the LGBTQ+ community brings to our
borough.”
