Following the fire that broke out on the 18th May at the storage unit where Pride in Surrey has stored equipment and memorabilia, we have received an update and now know that the facility will be demolished.
On the 22nd May we published an update after the storage company confirmed a total loss of stored items. We are now in a position to give a more realistic snapshot of our unfortunate loss.
The following six categories have been collated by the Pride team;
Giant Deck Chairs:
Two giant wooden deck chairs, one rainbow and one trans flag.
Outreach Equipment:
Hex rhino gazebos, standard gazebos, folding tables.
Communication equipment:
Radios, mega phones and accessories.
Staff PPE:
Year-round stock of T-shirts and jackets, high visibility vest and shoes.
Entertainment:
Two mobile stage platforms, LED lighting, speakers and PA system.
Bespoke Banners & Flags:
Branded stage and zone banners alongside custom made flags.
The above snapshot is not everything, the storage unit was full of essential equipment, along with countless items from prides gone by.
Whilst insurance will cover some of the items stored, some will not be covered. We are also preparing for a lengthy claims process, which could complete too close to or after Pride in September. Due to this shortfall, we have increased our funding target to a more realistic snapshot of what has been lost.
At the request of many, we have created an Amazon wish-list which includes some of the smaller items you may be able to help us with, alternatively our Just Giving campaign remains open.
We thank everyone who has donated to our JustGiving page so far.
